Any lingering hopes Arsenal had of taking the Premier League title this season have surely now been extinguished after the Gunners failed to beat Rafael Benítez's Liverpool side for the second time in four days at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsène Wenger's side at least have a chance to rectify Wednesday's 1-1 draw in the Champions League at Anfield next week, but there can be no more chances left in the Premier League. Arsenal now sit five points behind Manchester United, but the league leaders have a chance to stretch that lead to eight points at Middlesbrough tomorrow. With just five games left, that gap must be thought insurmountable.
